IT Technical Support Spcialist (Full Time)

POSITION OVERVIEW

This position is responsible for supporting the network operations within the Discovery Benefits system, including local and wide area networking, Active Directory, Microsoft Terminal Services, and Mitel Phone System design and administration. Overall security of the Discovery Benefits network needs to be seen as high priority.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop implementation plans for projects or tasks and ensure all planning steps are completed.
  • Provide hardware support for the Wide-Area-Network administration.
  • Responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of the Discovery Benefits computer networks to ensure optimum operating levels and minimal downtime.
  • Complete projects as assigned and ensure polices and procedures are maintained that relate to setup and maintenance of network and personal computer hardware and software.
  • Responsible for Active Directory, Citrix , Windows Operating Systems and Cisco Switching network administration along with their maintenance, to include necessary updates, patches, anti virus, hardware updates, as well as backup and recovery.
  • Verbalize and demonstrate knowledge of procedures for maintaining security, confidentiality, and integrity of employees’ and customer information.
  • Consider impact on other departments when making technology decisions or recommendations.
  • Establish standards and document procedures for the installation and maintenance of new and existing hardware and software implementations.
  • Research for new updates and available hardware and software that would be appropriate for Discovery Benefits WAN environment.
  • Provide support services to end users having problems or questions.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision to provide the necessary support for software and hardware problems/questions.
  • Work flexible hours to maintain computer hardware and software within the Discovery Benefits infrastructure, to include after hours and weekends, as needed.
  • Carry a company provided cell phone for company emergencies and/or off hours support.
  • All other duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES


A degree in information technology, networking or related field and a minimum of 2 - 5 years of information technology experience. Experience in management of Windows Active Directory, Microsoft Terminal Services and Mitel Phone Systems is preferred. This position also requires knowledge and/or experience in variety of network topologies and protocols, networking hardware, electronic communications, network management software, information security, cabling and Internet technologies is preferred.
