COBRA Operations Specialist (Full Time)

POSITION OVERVIEW

The COBRA Operations Specialist is responsible for the daily processing within the COBRA Operations team including implementation and renewal processing, incoming file processing, forms processing and ongoing maintenance at the employer and participant account levels.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain participant accounts
    • Process COBRA forms including qualifying event, enrollment, open enrollment, terminations
    • Ongoing participant account maintenance
    • Assist with check deposit and returns process
    • Communicate with other teams to resolve discrepancies and questions
  • Maintain group accounts
    • Setup and maintain employer accounts in applicable software
    • Process annual renewals and ongoing structure changes
    • Process group closings
    • Communicate with other teams to resolve discrepancies and questions
  • Process incoming employer files
    • Process incoming QB, NPM and continuant files
    • Research system errors and file format issues
    • Communicate with other teams to resolve discrepancies and questions
    • Assist with the unprocessed files process
  • Work with COBRA Operations Supervisor and Operations Team Lead to develop new processes and procedures
    • Maintain continuous improvement approach to work
    • Assist with updating department procedures and training
    • Communicate with COBRA Operations Supervisor and/or COBRA Operations Team Lead those areas needing change
    • Implement and document new processes
  • Ensure privacy according to HIPAA.
  • Work on special projects as assigned.
    • Assist department supervisor with special projects.
    • Develop and update administrative procedures as needed.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Customer service experience and benefit experience typically acquired in one to two years.
  • Computer proficiency required.
